Zaitseva Tatiana Sergeevna
PhD in Geology and Mineralogy
Council member of the RCG
PhD in Geology and Mineralogy
Senior Researcher

Institute of Geology and Geochronology of the Precambrian, Russian Academy of Sciences (IGGD RAS)

Research Interests:
Geochronology, Upper Proterozoic, globular and fine-dispersed layered silicates, detrital zircon, Mössbauer spectroscopy:
  • An approach to isotopic dating of argillites based on the separation and analysis of different-sized submicron fractions of clay minerals using leaching techniques and X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy control of the evolution of illite — the main geochronometer of clastic sedimentary rocks;
  • Investigation of globular layered silicates of the glauconite-illite series (GLS) using a combination of mineralogical-geochemical, isotopic-geochronological and spectroscopic methods (Mössbauer and IR spectroscopy) in order to determine the causes of disturbance of K-Ar and Rb-Sr isotopic systems and to identify geological settings that contribute to the "rejuvenation" of these minerals.

Scientific career
In 1994, she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Geology of Saint Petersburg State University (Department of Geochemistry). From 1994 to 1997, she was a full-time postgraduate student at the Department of Geochemistry, Faculty of Geology, Saint Petersburg State University. In 2003, she defended her dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (PhD) on the topic "Mineralogical and Geochemical Features of Ore-Forming Chromespinelids of the Imandra Layered Intrusion (Kola Peninsula)".

Since 1998, she has been working at the IGGD RAS in the Laboratory of Isotopic Chemostratigraphy and Geochronology of Sedimentary Rocks. Since 2019, she has been acting Deputy Director for Scientific Research at IGGD RAS. She is involved in the further development of the methodology for isotopic dating of unmetamorphosed Upper Precambrian sedimentary rocks, previously developed by the laboratory team (I.M. Gorokhov, O.V. Yakovleva, N.N. Melnikov, E.P. Kutyavin, T.L. Turchenko, and G.V. Konstantinova).
