2018 Annual Meeting of The Clay Minerals Society (CMS)
Dear Members, Colleagues, and Students,

We take great pleasure in inviting you to the 2018 Annual Meeting of The Clay Minerals Society (CMS), which will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). The organizing committee has worked hard to ensure the program is varied from the 2013 meeting at UIUC. The theme of the meeting is "New Visions in Clay Science." It will include a pre-meeting Workshop on "Medicinal Applications of Clay Minerals," organized by Dr. Jin-ho Choy from EWHA Womans University, Korea; several field-trip options; and thematic sessions that cover clays and clay minerals in agricultural, environmental, geological, industrial, materials, medical, soils, and other areas of interest.

The meeting will be held at the UIUC campus on June 11-14, 2018. For more details, please visit our website (www.conferences.illinois.edu/cms) and review the attached flyer. They include expanded descriptions of the thematic sessions, field trips, and social programs. Students are especially encouraged to participate and to offer oral and poster presentations. The CMS has a generous travel grant program, which can be found at http://conferences.illinois.edu/cms/studenttravelawards.html. The application deadline for student travel grants is February 5, 2018. We hope that you will attend many of these events, which will provide you opportunities to meet with your colleagues and friends.

We invite you to express your preliminary intentions to attend the conference by simply replying to this message. If you prefer to not receive any more communications about this Conference, please put "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Yuji Arai at yarai@illinois.edu

Your presence at the meeting is important to us. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Sincerely,

Yuji Arai, General Chairman

On behalf of The CMS organizing committee
