We present to your attention a news overview, as well as announcements of upcoming events dedicated to clays and clay minerals:
- After lengthy discussions between AIPEA, ECGA and representatives of national and regional groups, it was decided to merge the ICC and Euroclay conferences. The new joint conference will be held in odd-numbered years; the first will take place in Madrid in June 2027 and will be organized by colleagues from the Spanish Clay Society (SEA).
- The last 18th International Conference on Clays (ICC) will be held in Dublin, Ireland, July 13−18, 2025. Information on the conference will be published on the official website.
- The Secretary General of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) has announced a competition for grants from the Hutchinson Young Scientists Fund to support young scientists to participate in the 37th International Geological Congress in Busan, Korea, which will take place from August 25 to 31, 2024. - The AIPEA Early Career Clay Scientist Network webinar series continues, held every two months on the Zoom platform. The next webinar will be organized by Ambra Fiore, representative of the Italian Association for the Study of Clays, on Monday, September 18 at 15:00 (UTC+1). The webinar will feature Marina Massaro from the University of Palermo (Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies). Marina’s research focuses on the application of clay minerals, particularly halloysite, in catalysts. You can learn more about her work via the link.
