We are starting the new year with fresh publications.
And the first thing we would like to share is the article "Composition, Genesis, and Adsorption Properties of Smectite-Palygorskite Clays (Lower Carboniferous, Russia)", devoted to the smectite-palygorskite clays of the Moscow and Kaluga regions.
The article is based on research that began quite a long time ago, but which we have only now managed to complete and publish.
It highlights the possibilities of a comprehensive analysis of clay composition and of the clay minerals themselves, with particular attention paid to near-infrared spectroscopy, which made it possible to detail the composition of palygorskite in mixtures with smectites. Thanks to this research, we were able to clarify the genetic features of the formation of two different deposits — Dashkovskoye (Moscow region, Serpukhov) and Borshchevskoye (Kaluga region).
