Dear Colleagues!
We invite you to take part in the scientific and practical quiz "Mysteries of the Mineralogy of Western Siberian Sandstones", which will be held as part of the VIII Russian School on Clay Minerals – Argilla Studium-2025.
What awaits you?
You will receive 2 sandstone samples weighing 40–50 grams each. The samples will be pre-crushed in a jaw crusher and then sieved through a 2.5 mm sieve.
Objective of the quiz: To carry out a quantitative mineral analysis of the bulk samples and the separated clay fraction.

Participation timeline:
- April 28 – May 15 – Sending invitations and receiving feedback
- May 15 – May 20 – Sending samples to participants
- June 1 – July 15 – Performing analytical work
- July 15 – August 15 – Data processing, preparing presentations
- September 9 – Announcement and discussion of results
