Sedimentary complexes of the Urals and adjacent regions and their minerageny – 2026
Dear Colleagues!
The Zavaritsky Institute of Geology and Geochemistry, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IGG UB RAS), together with the Ural Section of the National Committee of Geologists of Russia, are holding the Ural Lithological Biennale in the third decade of October 2026 in Yekaterinburg, within the walls of IGG UB RAS. The Biennale includes the 15th Ural Lithological Meeting and the 6th All-Russian School for Students, Postgraduates, Early-Career Specialists and Scientists in Lithology, under the general title "Sedimentary complexes of the Urals and adjacent regions and their minerageny – 2026".
Within the framework of these events, it is planned to discuss current problems of classical and petroleum lithology and minerageny, processes of modern and ancient sedimentation and lithogenesis, palaeogeography and palaeotectonics of sedimentary basins of different ages.
Main sections of the Biennale (draft):
Current problems of lithology of the Urals
Current issues of lithology of regions adjacent to the Urals
Current issues of lithology of other regions of Russia and neighbouring countries
Petroleum lithology
General issues of lithology
Minerageny of sedimentary and metasedimentary complexes
Related sciences: stratigraphy of sedimentary sequences, soil science, etc.
The Organising Committee plans to publish electronic collections of materials from both the Meeting and the School. Materials for publication are accepted until April 30, 2026 via the website.
A one‑day field excursion is also planned, with the objects chosen being the Devonian and Lower Carboniferous carbonate sequences of the eastern slope of the Middle Urals.
