On June 13−16, 2023, the "6th Russian Meeting on Clays and Clay Minerals — CLAYS-2023" was held at the Institute of Geology and Geochronology of the Precambrian of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IGGD RAS) with the support of the event’s sponsors — LLC "COMPANY BENTONITE", PVP "SNK", and LLC "TESCAN".
Within the framework of the Meeting, plenary, oral and poster presentations were presented across 5 sections, covering issues related to the genesis of clay minerals, their transformation during geological processes, behavior during weathering, soil formation, redeposition, metamorphism, crystal chemistry of clay minerals, physicochemical, sorption, water-physical and other properties of clays, development of methods for their identification and isotopic dating, as well as issues of the application of clay minerals in industry, the oil and gas sector, ecology, medicine, etc.
Diplomas and prizes for the best oral and poster presentations among students and young scientists were awarded to:
Artemyev Grigory Denisovich, IPCE RAS, Moscow
Alikina Yulia Alexandrovna, ISC, Saint Petersburg
Danilin Igor Vyacheslavovich, Lomonosov MSU, Moscow

The conference was attended by 98 people in person and 15 people remotely. A total of 32 oral and 34 poster presentations were presented, as well as 2 presentations from conference sponsors dedicated to equipment for the analysis of clay mineral composition and the features of using modern equipment in Earth sciences.
It was decided to hold the next 7th Russian Meeting on Clays and Clay Minerals – "CLAYS-2025" in 2025 in Tomsk, with the support of Tomsk Polytechnic University and TomskNIPIneft (Chair – L.G.
