Nanospace-2024
On August 21−24, 2024, the International Conference on Nanospatially Confined Materials (Nanospace-2024-Thailand) was held at the Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) in Rayong, Thailand. The conference was organized by Professor Makoto Ogawa from the School of Energy Science and Engineering (ESE) with the support of companies such as Rigaku, Yamauchi Materials Space-Tectonics Project, ERATO, HORIBA, HOJUN, and others, with the aim of creating an international platform to strengthen scientific and industrial ties.
The conference was attended by specialists from leading institutes and companies in Japan, Thailand, Korea, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Russia. A total of 46 oral presentations were delivered, dedicated to advanced research in the field of nanomaterials. The institute where the conference was held (VISTEC) was established exactly 10 years ago with significant support from industrial companies in a picturesque location reminiscent of a national park. Currently, it has four main research directions that fully align with 40 key future technologies, as stated on the institute’s website.
Leading Researcher of IGEM RAS, V.V. Krupskaya, presented an invited talk on the topic: "Technogenic transformations of clay minerals in processes related to radioactive waste management" (co-authors: S.V. Zakusin, I.A. Morozov, T.A. Koroleva).
Professor Makoto Ogawa also organized a tour of the Technology Center, which was built entirely with funds from industrial companies, and demonstrated the capabilities of his laboratory, which occupies a fairly large space and contains almost any equipment that a specialist in materials science could wish for.

At the conclusion of the scientific event, the next conference was announced — Shinshu ICNM5, which will take place from July 30 to August 1, 2025 at Shinshu University in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Additional information will be posted on the university’s website via the link.
